About me
Hello, my name is Chris Martsolf!
From a young age my parents immersed me in all genres and decades of music! It was a real love they passed on to me. At 6 years old I started taking piano lessons, which quickly grew into other instruments, spanning drums, trumpet, guitar, and bass. While leading drumline and the trumpet section at Redondo Union High School, I joined the Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps, performing across the country in world class marching band competition. I then went on to UC Santa Cruz where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Music, with a focus in jazz drum performance.
Living in Santa Cruz, I dove deep into music production, making music at all hours of the day. I met local musicians and helped form the group Are We Hunting, where I played Drums and Piano, as well as recorded and mixed for the band.
After graduation and meeting my wife Dalia, I moved up to the East Bay to pursue my passion. While working in live sound as a stagehand for Live Nation, and I was fortunate enough to find an amazing circle of musicians at ModernTone Studios, based in Lafayette. The owner and lead engineer, Jacob Light, took me on as an assistant after seeing my desire and love to make music with others. I am now an audio engineer recording local artists, podcasters, choirs, bands, and more. I also found a love for teaching, where I offer lessons in Drums, Piano, and Music Production.
My goal is to share the love for music I have to others! If you are interested in learning how to play your favorite songs, make your own, or need help making technology work for you, then feel free to reach out and schedule a quick consultation with me. I’d love to work with you and make your musical dreams come to life!
